Scheels – Thank You

Sparks, Nevada

Sparks, Nevada

My name is Jennifer. I work for Mountain Circle Family Services in Reno, NV.  Our organization serves Nevada and California with foster parents. We also have an annual event – Running with the Bears in Greenville, CA.

We post a blog:

Charity Running Event

We have a video about our race:

My job is the Assistant Development Director. That means a lot of different things.  Here are a few:

I recruit foster families: Finding them, training them and maintaining licensing as well as providing them with services to make a difficult job a little easier. Since 1985, Mountain Circle has supported over 2,000 children and families in their journey to a healthier future. Our approach is simple: Offer the best possible training to foster parents, provide 24/7 support by experienced social workers/mentors, and equip older foster youth with the skills that they will need to become happy and productive adults in the real world. Currently there are approximately 60 children waiting in an emergency homeless shelter waiting for a foster home in Washoe County.

I work with our race: Running with the Bears.  I’m in charge of staying connected with our charity runners, but also getting our fliers and information out about the race. All Mountain Circle Family Services staff volunteer to put on this race and 100% of all proceeds go directly to programs for our foster children.

Therapy program: We have an amazing therapy program. Currently we accept Medicaid/Medicare but are working on being able to bill several other insurance companies.

I am vigilant about researching companies that we can partner with. Scheels here in Sparks, NV has been a fantastic contact. Every event we can rent a booth at, we do. The free run every Tuesday at 6:30PM that partners with Reno Running and Fitness, I am at, opening it to all Nevada Running with the Bears participants. We’ve been able to leave our fliers at the store which is fantastic free advertisement. Scheels has partnered with local races and companies making events easier as well as more organized and assists us in spreading the word on foster care in the area. It’s not often a big corporation remembers the little companies out there, or that our cause is the most important cause to us, but Scheels sees our bigger picture and supports us. For that I am grateful. All too often people complain about the injustices of not being treated well, but here at Mountain Circle Family Services, we want to focus on saying “Thank You” to the people who help us help others.

Thank You Scheels!!
